Tribute to Anthony Martin Dutton

A very moving service for a fascinating man. It's such a shame that one often finds out so much more about someone at their funeral rather than in life. Privileged to have known Tony, if only during one brief period of his life.

He will be (is) missed by us all and whilst pondering about Anthony I came to wonder- did he ever make anything with the wood lathe that was my father in laws?

A very moving funeral service for a very remarkable man. He had certainly lived life to the full and leaves a wonderful legacy. Well done Anthony.

We have fond memories of scrutinising the Parish Meeting Accounts for the Annual Audit, with Anthony, our Internal Auditor for many years. He was a much valued member of the village community who had a life full of adventure !

Anthony was a one-off! Fascinating stories about his adventures and travels in his younger days. A neighbour whose company we always enjoyed. Our thoughts are with Elizabeth and with his family.

I first met Anthony when I was young child of approximately 7 or 8 years old. He was one of my class teachers. That would have been around about 1960- 1961. He often intrigued me because her seemed different to any other adult I had met. He had done quite a bit of travelling in his time and was set to do some more when he decided to horseback ride the width of Argentina . From memory and from what I had been told, I think his original intention was to replicate the journey of San Martin, the liberator of Argentina, and his journey with his army. I don’t think he quite managed the whole trip, but traversing the width, consisting of primarily the plains of the Pampas was more than enough as he returned utterly exhausted, as was his horse. Nonetheless I was totally enraptured by the story of his adventures. The next time I met him was about 40 year later at the Anglo Argentine asado where he allowed himself to indulge in nostalgic memory sharing, chiefly about the kids in his classroom .Bless him!

Great guy, great adventurer, definitely one of a kind who lived an amazing life. We will miss hearing all your stories .

Regretting having left too long gap between reunions of ‘ The Crypt School band of brothers’ Anto, David and Bob. But I have happy memories of times spent with Anto and Elizabeth in the past few years. I am grateful for their affection and support. May the boys reunite in the celestial The Moon Under Water pub.
